What class should I start with?

Puppy Kindergarten

For puppies 8-12 weeks old

$125 for 4 zoom sessions 30 min. each

With young puppies, the pressing items on the agenda are: handling, handling and handling! Class covers safe socialization with people, bite inhibition, household manners (where to eliminate, what to chew, and when to shush), and preparing your pup to be left at home alone (i.e. preventing separation anxiety). All of this must be addressed prior to three months of age. Additionally, you’ll learn how to teach Come, Sit, Down, and Stay, because it’s easy and fun!

The Puppy Kindergarten Curriculum consists of four sessions: Household Training, Puppy Biting and Handling, Manners and Safety, and finally Safe Socialization.

[A] Household Training: House Training, Chewing, Barking, and Home Alone Problems (Separation Anxiety), Crate Training, Resource Guarding

[B] Puppy Biting and Handling: Catch, Cuddle, Exam and Restrain your Puppy, Veterinary and Groomer Handling Routines, Frustration Tolerance, Calming and Gentling

[C] Manners & Safety Training: Puppy Obedience Training, Manners, Impulse Control, Boundary Training, Settle Down, Training Games

[D] Safe Socialization: Socialization to People, Introducing New Environments, Calm and Confident Attitude, How to Throw a Puppy Party

Learn how to toilet train, chew toy train and safely socialize your pup with people; address puppy biting, whining and crying; prepare your puppy for handling by veterinarians and groomers and prevent household behavior problems such as house soiling, destructive chewing, and chewing.

Puppy Kindergarten is a SIRIUS innovation. It is a set of four classes designed to ensure that you receive urgent training at the earliest possible time. There are three elements of puppy training that must be addressed in a puppy’s first three months of life:
1) Puppies must be thoroughly, yet safely, socialized to people so that later in life, they do not become wary or fearful of children, strangers, or men.
2) Puppies must learn to be gentle with their mouths, so they do not inflict serious injury on people or animals as their jaws grow substantially stronger.
3) Puppies must learn how to live in a human home, so they do not damage your belongings or suffer from separation anxiety.

Board and Train

Prior to scheduling all Board and Train Packages, your dog must first be assessed. If you are an existing client, you have already completed this step.

Our board and train program allows for in-depth training at its most intensive level. Companion Dog Training’s Board and Train program is designed to teach obedience skills while also addressing behavioral problems. Due to the immersive nature of the board and train program, clients must be carefully selected to make certain they have the time, patience, and commitment to reinforce and maintain their dog’s training.

During your pup’s time in the CDT Board and Train program they will enjoy off-leash training in the home during the day, visits to our private on site dog park during the morning and afternoon, time relaxing in the den during the evening, and then spend the night sleeping in separate crates in our doggy dormitory. Board and Train dogs are not kenneled during the day allowing for off leash training in a home environment most similar to their own, this is where behavioral issues are best addressed. Our doggy dormitory is a large (900 square foot), air conditioned and heated building attached to our home, where someone is always present to care for your furry family member.
